Bamboo: Fashion Forward and Eco-Friendly
By Janine Giorgenti
Imagine there was a way for you to look great while benefiting the environment?
Did you know that Bamboo could be made into beautiful fabrics with one of the softest touches that fabric can have?
Manufacturers have now begun producing renewable-energy Bamboo fabrics, that we can now make into suits or sport coats!
Bamboo fabrics also possess a special characteristic to them; they cool you off as you wear them in the heat! Imagine having a Bamboo suit or sport coat as we approach 90+ degree weather?
Bamboo fabric is actually made pretty similar to how cotton fabric is made. Fibers from the Bamboo stalk are taken and processed into smaller and smaller strands of fiber, almost like hair. These fibers are the spun together many times over to create yarns, which helps the finished product with abrasion resistance. These yarns are woven together in certain patterns to finally create the finished fabric, ready to be cut and sewn!
Techno-fabrics are certainly game-changers!
