0Introducing “Power Casual”
Power-Up Your Business Casual
By Janine Giorgenti
Dressing casual for work while keeping a professional image for many men and women is a challenge.
How do you dress casual while still looking effective and established? The right image exudes credibility, will earn you respect among your colleagues, help you close more deals, and will elevate your career. All this equates to power, success, and money.
So, how do you “power up” your business casual attire?
Men:
A sport coat is your new best friend.
That’s right. Throw a sport coat over dress slacks or even a pair of jeans and you will boost your outfit.
Your dress shirt should hold its own authority. Dress shirts don’t have to be bland. Shirts today can be stylish and creative. Try a new color like pink or lavender, perhaps venture into wearing a patterned shirt.
Shirts that have a contrast color or pattern in the inner side of the collar band and on the reverse side of the cuffs are trending and add flair. Some shirts even have contrast color buttons and button hole stitching.
Accessorize your clothing with a nice pair of brown leather shoes with a matching belt and cool-looking patterned/colored socks to add interest and style to your outfit.
Women:
Dresses are in.
Wear a dress that’s stylish and flattering for your figure type and less constructed. Accessorize with fun jewelry and low heeled shoes.
‘Athleisure’ wear, the “word du jour” for 2016, is not only extremely comfortable but very cool-looking. Jeggings or black trim fitted dress pants made out of a stretch fabric can work when teamed with a nice knit top and a soft unconstructured sweater jacket.
For a cool and hip look, pair jeans with a blazer and heeled boots. Stay away from distressed or ripped denim.
The whole key for men and women is putting the right style and color combinations together and accessorizing your outfits.
Remember, personal branding and your image is a powerful marketing tool. Create your own flare and style to look your best and power up your image.
