Amid controversial moments and statements that grabbed the headlines (we won’t mention how or why Martian inexplicably won ‘Best Comedy’), Hollywood’s leading men took to the red carpet and displayed the latest fashion ensembles put together by their team of designers (and surely publicists). I noticed an ‘edgier’ theme to the men’s outfits in this year’s Golden Globes, with more variety in colors and patterns; a slight departure from previous awards shows.

In the end, there can only be five names mentioned on a top-5 list.

My Top-5 Best Dressed Men at the 2016 Golden Globes Awards:

1. Leonardo DiCaprio

Is there any doubt to who Hollywood’s leading man truly is?

Recently recognized by the Queen of England, the British movie star went for a bold look; wearing a purple patterned Dolce & Gabbana suit, with a – patterned – purple tie, black bow tie, and vest. A leading look for a leading man.

3. Ryan Gosling

Sure he had his on-stage moment – with Brad Pitt – that has everyone buzzing, but he absolutely pulls off this this white on black ensemble with perfection. Ryan has sure come a long way since Remember the Titans.

4. Sam Smith

Sam Smith, for those of you who may not know, underwent a major transformation, going from overweight and suicidal to losing over 50 lbs in the span of a few months. Sam looks sensational in this black slim-cut suit.

5. Michael Shannon

Better known to Superman fans as General Zod (and well now, of course 99 Homes), Michael Shannon impresses with this simple black suit ensemble.
